Collecting files and answers while people sign.
A signature is often only half of what you need. You also want a copy of a licence, an answer to a question or a detail typed in. SignAndGo's other field types let you gather all of it in the same pass, so the envelope comes back complete.
File upload fields
An upload field asks the signer to attach a file before they can finish. Use it for anything you need to sight: a photo ID or visa for a new starter, a certificate of insurance from a contractor, a building consent from a client, or a bank deposit slip. The file comes back with the envelope, so you are not matching attachments from separate emails.
Yes/No choices
A Yes/No field asks the signer to pick one option. It suits questions with a clear answer: are you already a KiwiSaver member, do you hold a current first aid certificate, will you use your own vehicle. Each signer's choice is recorded against their name, which is easier to read later than a scribbled note in a margin.
Tick boxes and text fields
- Tick boxes for confirmations, such as having read the attached policy.
- Text fields for an IRD number, bank account, vehicle registration or emergency contact.
- Date fields for start dates, commencement dates or the date of signing.
- Name fields so the signer's name appears exactly as they type it.
Make the important ones required
Mark the fields that must be filled, and the signer cannot finish while one is empty. This is the single biggest saving: no more envelopes that come back signed but missing the tax code or the insurance certificate, followed by a second round of emails.
Leave genuinely optional details optional, so you are not forcing people to invent answers. A required field nobody can answer honestly simply produces a decline or a made-up value.
Labels matter as much as the rules. A field named only "Text" tells the signer nothing; one named "IRD number" or "Vehicle registration" gets the right answer.
Put the fields where a reader expects them
Place each field next to the question or label it answers on the page. If a form has a box for the IRD number, put the text field in that box. Signers move from field to field with one click, and a field that sits where the eye expects it gets filled correctly first time.
Common questions
- Can a signer upload more than one file?
- Add an upload field for each file you need, labelled so the signer knows what goes where.
- Can I make a Yes/No choice required?
- Yes. Mark it as required and the signer must choose before finishing.
- Can I collect the same answers on every envelope?
- Yes. Place the fields once in a template and every envelope started from it asks the same questions in the same places.
- Do these fields work on a phone?
- Yes. Signers can type, choose and upload from a phone browser.
