Filing signed documents into Xero automatically.
For a business that keeps its records around Xero, the signed agreement belongs there too. SignAndGo can file each completed envelope into Xero the moment the last signature is added, so nobody downloads, renames and re-uploads anything.
Connect your Xero organisation
From SignAndGo's integration settings, connect Xero and approve the connection in Xero's own window. You need to be able to authorise apps for that Xero organisation, which in most small businesses means the owner or the person who looks after the books.
Connecting is done once for the workspace. After that the whole team's envelopes can be filed without anyone repeating the step.
Switch on automatic filing
Connecting Xero does not file anything by itself. Turn on automatic filing when you are ready. Many people leave it off while they practise with test envelopes, so their Xero files are not cluttered with trial runs, then switch it on for real work.
With filing on, the document is filed only once the envelope is complete. A half-signed contract never appears in Xero looking finished.
Adding signers as contacts
A second, separate setting adds new signers to Xero as contacts. It suits businesses where most people who sign are customers or suppliers you will invoice or pay. If many of your signers are staff, referees or one-off parties, you may prefer to leave it off and keep your contact list clean.
What a filed envelope looks like
What lands in Xero is the completed document as every signer received it, with its completion certificate. The full audit trail stays with the envelope in SignAndGo, so if someone asks when a document was opened or from where, that is the place to look.
- Filed: the fully signed document, once all signers have finished.
- Not filed: drafts, envelopes in progress and declined envelopes.
- Kept in SignAndGo: the envelope's status history and audit trail.
When something is not filed
Because filing is tied to completion, approvers matter here. An envelope with a final approval step is only filed once that approver has acted, which keeps unreviewed documents out of Xero.
If a signed document does not appear, check three things in order: that automatic filing is switched on, that the envelope shows as completed rather than waiting on an approver, and that the Xero connection has not been removed from the Xero side. Reconnecting from the integration settings restores it.
Common questions
- Do I have to connect Xero to use SignAndGo?
- No. Xero is optional. Without it, signed documents are emailed to everyone and kept with the envelope.
- Can I turn filing off again?
- Yes. Switch automatic filing off at any time; documents already filed stay in Xero.
- Who in my team can connect Xero?
- Workspace admins look after the connection, so a team member cannot connect or disconnect your Xero organisation on their own.
- Are contacts created even if filing is off?
- They are separate settings, so you choose each one on its own.
