Asked to sign? What to expect from a SignAndGo link.
If you have received an email asking you to sign a document through SignAndGo, this page explains what happens next. You do not need to install anything or set up an account. The person or business who sent it chose SignAndGo to collect signatures, and they can see when you have finished.
The email
The email comes from SignAndGo on behalf of the sender. It names who sent it and the document, includes any message they wrote, and has a button to open the document. If anything about it looks wrong, or you were not expecting it, contact the sender by phone or a separate email before you open it.
Opening and reading the document
The button opens the document in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Take your time and read it through. Some senders switch on document summaries, which give you a plain-language overview before you sign. A summary is a reading aid only, so the document itself is what you are agreeing to.
If the sender has asked you only to review a document, you will be asked to confirm you have received it rather than to sign.
Filling in your fields
The places you need to complete are marked on the page, and a button takes you to the next one. You may be asked for:
- Your signature.
- Initials on particular pages.
- Your name, a date or other text.
- A tick or a Yes or No answer.
- A file, such as a photo of an ID or certificate.
If you are not ready to sign
You do not have to sign straight away. If you need to ask a question or disagree with something, choose to decline and write a short reason. The sender sees your note immediately and can reply or send a new version. You may get reminder emails if you leave it, which simply means the sender is still waiting.
If other people are signing too, you might receive the link only after someone before you has finished.
Once everyone has signed
You receive the finished document by email, with a completion certificate showing who signed and when. The signed document carries a verification ID, and anyone can check it online to confirm it is the one that was completed. Keep the email for your records.
